E-commerce platforms featuring Shein, Temu, AliExpress and Wish are now being probed in France for the offence of allowing underage individuals to view adult information on their platforms, the Paris prosecutor stated on this Tuesday.

The country's regulatory body had brought to light the companies to the judicial system on Sunday after voicing alarms about the sale of youth-resembling intimate products on their online marketplace during the weekend.

The Paris prosecutor's office clarified that the platforms are being examined over harmful, pornographic or “undignified” messages that can be seen by young people.

One of the platforms stated that it considers the situation extremely earnestly. Shein, Temu and Wish have also been reached out to for comment.

Wider Probes and Platform Statements

Two of the retailers are additionally under investigation over the dissemination of content involving children that are of a adult type, the office said.

The cases have been passed to a specialized police unit, the prosecution service added. This office is an arm of the national police that supervises the safeguarding of minors.

The platform commented that the items in concern violated its policies and were taken down once it was informed of them.

"Vendors determined to flout or seeking to bypass these policies will be sanctioned in accordance with our rules," the platform said in a official comment.

On this Monday, the company announced it had banned the sale of all adult toys on its marketplace worldwide. The Singapore-based firm also mentioned that it would ban indefinitely all vendor profiles involved in the unlawful distribution of the childlike dolls and implement more rigorous measures on its platform.

Regulatory Body Findings and Larger Background

The regulatory authority, the DGCCRF, had said that the sex dolls' listing details and grouping left "minimal uncertainty as to the child pornography essence" of the merchandise.

The scrutiny of Shein coincides with the firm, which was founded in China, makes arrangements for the launch on this Wednesday of its first long-term real-world shop in France.

Activists have been seen gathered in near the French capital department store where the company is scheduled to unveil the store.

Shein intends to open outlets in additional French retail chains in locations like these regional hubs.
