New US Guidelines Label Nations with Inclusion Programs as Human Rights Infringements

Policy complex

States pursuing ethnic and sexual DEI policies will now face US authorities deeming them as infringing on human rights.

American foreign ministry has issued new rules to all US embassies tasked with preparing its yearly assessment on international rights violations.

Updated guidelines also deem countries that subsidise abortion or assist large-scale immigration as violating fundamental freedoms.

Major Policy Transformation

These modifications represent a significant change in Washington's established focus on international freedom safeguarding, and demonstrate the expansion into foreign policy of American government's national priorities.

A high-ranking American representative declared the new rules constituted "an instrument to modify the actions of state administrations".

Examining Diversity Initiatives

Inclusion initiatives were developed with the aim of enhancing results for specific racial and demographic categories. After taking power, American leadership has actively pursued to end diversity programs and reinstate what he calls performance-driven chances in the US.

Categorized Infringements

Other policies by international authorities which US embassies are instructed to label as human rights infringements include:

  • Subsidising abortions, "as well as the complete approximate count of yearly terminations"
  • Sex-change operations for children, categorized by the state department as "interventions involving chemical or surgical mutilation... to alter their biological characteristics".
  • Facilitating mass or unauthorized immigration "across a country's territory into different nations".
  • Apprehensions or "official investigations or cautions about communication" - a reference to the US government's opposition to online protection regulations enacted by some European countries to discourage online hate speech.

Administration Position

US diplomatic representative Tommy Pigott said the new instructions are intended to halt "new destructive ideologies [that] have created protection to human rights violations".

He declared: "American leadership refuses to tolerate these freedom infringements, like the surgical alteration of minors, laws that infringe on freedom of expression, and demographically biased workplace policies, to proceed without challenge." He further stated: "No more tolerance".

Critical Opinions

Critics have charged the government of reinterpreting traditionally accepted international freedom standards to advance its political objectives.

A former senior state department official currently leading the rights organization stated US authorities was "utilizing global freedoms for political purposes".

"Seeking to designate diversity initiatives as a freedom infringement creates a novel bottom in the US government's employment of international human rights," she stated.

She further stated that the new instructions omitted the freedoms of "females, gender-diverse individuals, religious and ethnic minorities, and atheists — all of whom possess equivalent freedoms under American and global statutes, despite the meandering and obtuse rights rhetoric of the American leadership."

Historical Framework

The State Department's regular freedom evaluation has traditionally been regarded as the most comprehensive study of this category by any state. It has recorded violations, encompassing torture, non-judicial deaths and partisan harassment of population segments.

A significant portion of its concentration and coverage had continued largely unchanged across right-wing and left-wing leaderships.

The updated directives follow the US government's release of the most recent yearly assessment, which was substantially revised and downscaled in contrast with prior editions.

It reduced censure of some US allies while increasing criticism of perceived foes. Complete segments present in reports from previous years were eliminated, significantly decreasing coverage of concerns encompassing government corruption and harassment against sexual minorities.

The report further declared the freedom circumstances had "declined" in some European democracies, including the Britain, French Republic and Federal Republic of Germany, due to laws against online hate speech. The wording in the evaluation echoed prior concerns by some US tech bosses who resist digital protection regulations, portraying them as assaults against freedom of expression.
